Decisions, Decisions, Decisions: How Do Churches Decide?

We make decisions every day – in homes, businesses, schools, and in churches.  Just listen as you pass by people talking in hallways, parking lots, Sunday School classrooms, playgrounds, and in many other places, and you will find out that many types of decisions “draw energy and conversation from church members across the spectrum.  These decisions may be theological…aesthetic…functional…or where do we eat lunch? (James C. Dant).

While we could go to many different Scriptures to learn different ways the church has decided matters, we will look at four specific situations in the New Testament from the life of the early developing church.  As we are guided by what Dant calls “the influences of issues like history, attitude, leadership, and process”, we will seek to uncover possibilities for ways that churches, families, businesses, and even individuals may make decisions for the good of the whole.
